Happy WCMD - and a giveaway!

I can't believe another year has passed! It's time to pull out your card-making supplies and spend the day CREATING! (What a fun way to spend the day.)

Paper Crafts is spear-heading the third annual World Card Making Day, and in celebration of that, I'm honored to be joining 49 other talented bloggers in a fun giveaway! I'm happy to send out a copy of Paper Crafts "Cards, Gifts, & More" to a lucky winner who leaves me a comment today. Just tell me how long you've been making cards to enter! I will draw a winner Sunday evening at 6pm.

I always like to use WCMD to jump-start my holiday cards! I plan on using PTI's Made of Snow for our family's cards this year. I usually make around 75-80 cards, so I like to make them simple, but always try to add an element that is a bit unexpected (i.e., that little 'wow' factor to impress my card making friends!). Spellbinders dies are perfect for this! Here, I embossed my card front with a scalloped rectangle Nestabilities to match the scalloped edge.

The sentiment was stamped with white pigment ink and heat-embossed with a glitter embossing powder. I used the SU key tag punch and popped it up with a little foam adhesive. For the snowman, I used Prismacolor pencils and a little Glossy Accents on the eyes and buttons. Cute and easy!

OK, confession time! See the ribbon on the left? It's covering up a really bad black ink smudge. So my mistake turned into a great opportunity for just one more little extra - I love that!

Don't forget to let me know how long you've been making cards in the comments. I hope that you have a great day creating!

Be well.

I'm thinking about 2 years. I was originally a scrapper and now mostly make cards.

I started with scrapbooking about 9 years ago,and then about a year later I decided I needed a plan to use up the scraps from the layouts. Now I just love making cards, and people really enjoy getting a handmade card.

Happy WCMD! Love your card and great way to cover up your ink spot. I've been making cards forever. It started with the software that you can do on the computer to going totally crazy with stamps and fun tools. Thanks for a chance.

Your card is too cute. I've been making cards about 3 years, though my early cards were, uh, quite, uh plain?!? Thanks for a chance at blog candy. :)

I have been stamping for 15+ years. Having blogs to look at has really kept my interest in the craft.

I love that card; especially the embossing in the middle of the card; what a great idea! I've been stamping and card making for only about 6 months, and honestly I haven't had a lot of time to make any. It's a lot of fun though!

I have been making cards for 3 years. My DIL got me hooked. I mess up all the time and use all kinds of embellishments to cover up the goofs.

I'm not sure how long I've been making cards. A couple years maybe. I'm mostly a scrapbooker but have gotten into cards more.

I've been making cards for about 10 years, but in between that time I had some babies, so there were many years in there that I BOUGHT cards instead. Now I make all my birthday cards and my list is TOO long.

I went to my first Stampin UP party in 1996. My mom couldn't believe there were parties to sell rubber stamps. Guess which one of us owns more stamps. I guess I've been stamping for 12 years! Wow!

Sometimes smudges can turn out to be inspirations! This card is simply beautiful! I've been stamping since 2002 or 2003 (can't remember because I was stamping on and off for a while)! TFS!

I've been making cards for as long as I can remember, but my card making has changed tremedously since I started scrapbooking 2 1/2 years ago. So I guess I would say 2 1/2 years for the type of cards I do know.

I have been card-creating for about 8 years now; the same amount of time I have been scrapping. I love the fact that both paper-crafting interests use the same tools!!
