Coloring on kraft

Oh goodness, I had so much fun creating this card! It sounds really odd, but I've never just done a one-layer card with colored pencils and kraft cardstock, but I can tell you that I am now seriously hooked! Just look at the way that color popped.

The image is the Roses of Sharon image from (who else!) Lockhart Stamp Company and the frame is just an embossed label from Spellbinders (no cut, just emboss). To create the layered color for the flowers, I did just as I do with the Blackboard Technique, laying down my white first, then layering the color on top of it. I colored these this way because I had a Roses of Sharon bush in my side yard in Pittsburgh, and it always made me laugh because it so had a mind of its own (I got it from my next door neighbor who pleaded with me to take some of it because it just took over!). The card is 4 Bar-sized (3 1/2" x 4 7/8"); I really like making cards this size because they make such nice notecards. I have a box of envelopes that I got from XpedX, so I'll never be stuck for an envelope.

Thanks for stopping by today. I really appreciate it - it means a lot to me! Be well.
